Mentoring

We have some fabulous new resources on the www.ksmea.org site that are designed to help new music teachers. These resources are the result of a lot of hard work by the Teacher Recruitment and Retention Committee of KMEA, headed up by Chris Richmond of Wamego and Holly Taylor of Wichita.

1. New Teacher Handbook - tons of useful advice, forms, dates, etc. posted by people who have "been there". This info is so good it is of value to any teacher, regardless of experience. www.ksmea.org/mentoring/handbook

2. Mentor signup page - if you would like to have a mentor, someone you can call or e-mail when you need ideas or "help!!!", this is a great resource. It only takes a minute to sign up and it could be your "lifeline" for the school year. If you are a veteran music teacher, you can sign up on this page to be a mentor for someone else. http://ksmea.org/mentoring/newteachers_contact/
